Michèle is a double graduate of McGill University, having completed the integrated Bachelor of Civil Law and Common Law (B.C.L. and L.L.B. – equivalent J.D.) program in 2014. She had the privilege of articling at the Montreal Legal Aid office, where she learned the work of a lawyer in both its legal and psychosocial aspects.
Since her swearing-in in October 2015, she was trusted to replace experienced lawyers at short notice in a full caseload for contracts of variable duration. She had the opportunity to work at the Legal Aid offices of Montreal, Saint-Jérôme, and Joliette. The quality of her work, her professionalism, her dedication to her clients and her good judgment, highlighted by judges in the districts where she worked, allowed her to obtain a permanent position at the Sherbrooke Legal Aid office in September 2017.
Since her beginnings in the practice of law, Michèle has represented clients on a daily basis before the Criminal and Penal Division of the Court of Québec and the Superior Court, before numerous municipal courts and before the Review Board for mental disorder.
The firm Michèle Lamarre-Leroux Avocate took shape in a desire to take advantage of the many skills and knowledge acquired over the years in a new horizon. She also welcomes the changing attitudes of the various actors in the judicial community with regard to the protection of the rights of victims of sexual and conjugal violence.
Beyond the caseload, Michèle attaches great importance to educating and informing her fellow citizens about the law. She shares her knowledge through lectures and radio chronicles. She also supervises students in university clinical courses or legal competitions. She also welcomes students into her daily worklife to introduce them to the practice of law.
